We sponsored five high school interns during the summer of 2003. Working with the Northwest Michigan Community Health Agency, the students monitored E. coli at four public bathing beaches and had their data submitted to the MDEQ website. During the 2004 summer three interns surveyed the shorelines of Torch, Clam, and Bellaire Lakes for the algae, Cladophora, and the aquatic nuisance species, Eurasian watermilfoil. This summer six interns are working on a groundwater analysis for the Water Quality Model. We need adult supervisors for this program. If you enjoy working with top students and are willing to volunteer some time from June to August please contact the Three Lakes office.
